I have the Marvell Storage Controller set to ‘AHCI mode’ in the BIOS. I have a question concerning this, but I’ll save that for a separate post. Once I can get it into it, I want to reformat it and start with a fresh clean drive just for data. It was previously my old ‘C’ drive containing Windows 10 Prof and all my data. I’m not sure whether this has any baring on this, but the data drive I’m connecting up isn’t brand new. I can see the new drive in the BIOS but when Windows has booted up, I cannot see it in Disk Management nor Windows Explorer. I want to connect the data drive to one of the Marvell ports (to benefit from the faster speed compared to the Intel SATA 3.0 ports). I want to add another HDD to increase my storage capacity for data as my ‘D’ drive is almost full. A traditional spinner drive containing just data.Ģ ports are connected up to DVD rewriter optical drives.Ģ ports are currently vacant, although do get used periodically for connecting up HDDs for backup. The other port is connected to my ‘D’ drive. My ‘C’ drive SSD (containing Windows 10 Prof and programs) is connected to one port. I have an ASUS P8Z68-V Pro motherboard with the following SATA connection setup:
